Privacy, in plain language

Privacy

A site about weird tech should not be weird with your data. Here is exactly what happens to what you share.

PRIVACY.TXT

What I collect

  • Your answers to the form, and what you write in the text boxes.
  • The date and time you sent it.
  • The random reference code the site makes for you.
  • A scrambled version of your IP address (a one-way hash). It is used only to stop one person sending dozens of reports, and it is removed after 30 days.

What I don't collect

✓ KeptYour answers, the date, your reference code, and for 30 days the scrambled IP.
✕ Never asked forName, email, @handle, phone number, address, screenshots or files, tracking cookies, advertising pixels.

How reports are used

  • I read every report before it is used.
  • I publish counts and patterns, like how many reports mention a platform.
  • I quote your words only if you ticked the quote box, and never with a name.
  • I remove anything that could identify a person, and any health details, threats, or accusations against named people. If a report can't be made safe, it is deleted.

How long reports are kept

Reports are kept for up to 2 years after the project ends, then deleted. Published counts and quotes may stay online.

Limits on security

Reports are stored in a database that only I can read, and the site uses an encrypted connection. No system is perfectly secure, so please don't write anything you would not want seen if the database were ever exposed. The company that hosts the site may keep short-term technical logs, as most websites do.
